Iconic Dexter represents the great American jazz tenor saxophonist Dexter Gordon. Known for his innovative large-scale portraits of Black Americans, Hendricks’ paintings and photographs embody Black identity as an independent cultural influencer. Hendricks attended PAFA and is a Philadelphia native. This print is in the collection of the David C. Driskell Center for the Study of the Visual Arts and Culture of African Americans and the African Diaspora at the University of Maryland, College Park, among other collections.
