The Brodsky Center at PAFADeborah Luster is a photographer and visual artist, who explores themes of violence and its consequences. She is well- known for her archive series “One Big Self: Prisoners of Louisiana” (with poet C.D. Wright). The project reflects upon private loss, induvial lives, language, public policy and institutions, and violence.
The Brodsky Center received funds from the National Endowment for the Arts to invite several New Orleans-based artists to create new work while they were still rebuilding their studios in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
