Artist: Burko, Diane
Diane Burko is an American painter and photographer whose work deals with concepts of the landscape, climate change, and environmental activism. While she engages in the traditions of landscape painting, her works are layered with the challenges of climate degradation. Burko has long been a prominent advocate for arts role in addressing climate change. She has traveled the globe and interacted with the scientific community. “Each of us, aside from being mindful of our fossil fuel consumption, local food consumption, and recycling, must be vocal. The personal is the political. If each of us actually petitioned our representatives with our concerns -often- it would make a difference. The issue impacts us all, and our grandchildren, and their grandchildren as well. The time to act is now.”
